November 17, 2022: Think Tank Panel & Roundtable
Speaker Bios | Event Details | Video Playlist | Straw Proposal
Many international agreements on taxes, climate, justice, etc. — say, the Paris Accord, or the global minimum tax treaty — actually increase poverty and slow climate innovation by constricting freedom and markets. To flip the script, Reason Magazine's Editor at Large Nick Gillespie moderated an expert morning panel exploring a new possibility — a liberty-expanding think tank collaboration on international agreements that address a wide range of issues — with solutions rooted in the insight that the best fix for both poverty and climate (and many other issues) is one and the same: expand freedom for innovators, entrepreneurs and problem solvers, globally.
Panelists & Roundtable Co-Chairs:
- Nick Gillespie, Reason Magazine (Panel Moderator)
- Magatte Wade, Atlas Network Center for African Prosperity
- Lorenzo Montanari, Americans for Tax Reform & Tholos Foundation
- Magnús Örn Gunnarsson, RSE, Iceland
- Rod Richardson, Grace Richardson Fund (Roundtable Facilitator)
- David Nott, Reason Foundation (Roundtable only)

November 2, 2019
Bridgehampton, New York
Rod Richardson joined several other noted experts from the East End of Long Island for SoFo's 5th Annual Climate Change Day forum. Click for event flyer. The East End of Long Island is particularly vulnerable to sea level rise, water contamination and storm surge. The local fisherman just experienced a near total die-off from this year's scallop harvest, where increasing ocean temperatures and excessive fertilizer used on lawns and crops are the initial suspects. Rod spoke of the need to bring about new, business-friendly policies that provide the energy resources residents need while also being good stewards of the environment.

Charrette: Energy Policy Innovation
Held at Holland & Knight, LLP
October 1, 2019
Washington, DC
More than 30 experts in energy policy, academia, business and government came together for an all-day conference to brainstorm solutions to energy policy and innovation. While folks the world over are calling for bold action on climate and a transformation of the energy sector, often public policy is a mash-up of confusing and time-consuming policies, that often prevents the best solutions from reaching elected officials, municipalities and business executives. At this charrette, these policy experts worked to come up with a set of solutions that have the potential to create the pathway for new policy and greater innovation.
Many thanks to Taite McDonald for facilitating this thought-provoking event.

With great pleasure Andy Sabin, Trammell Crow, Rod Richardson, and new co-hosts CRES Forum and Matthew Patsky, CEO of Trillium Asset Management, hosted a gathering of innovative philanthropists and thought leaders at the second annual meeting of the Clean Capitalist Leadership Council, on Thursday, September 27, 1:30 pm – 5:30 pm, at Urban Tech Hub, located near Grand Central Station in New York City.

The Coalition was also introduced at events during National Clean Energy Week, sponsored by CRES Forum.
The Council gathering itself strives to accelerate policy innovation. We make it easy for clean capitalists, philanthropists, policy makers and institutes to exchange ideas, collaborate, and strategize about how to advance this work for maximum impact. For more details, please visit the About page.
